Something of Our Own

Alright. I know what you are probably thinking; “That Bombadier guy is opening a cafe? What the heck?” The truth is, for as long as I can remember I have dreamt of having a place to go where things feel like home.

The smell of coffee is in the air, the light is soft, and the room is full of laughter. Or maybe it’s quiet, or something in between.

Maybe there’s a band playing tonight, or a book club, or a record swap. Maybe it’s game night and I just rolled a natural 20 on connection. Not just a coffee shop, not just a restaurant, but a place to land. Somewhere to return to.

This space is personal and intentional. It's shaped by what matters most to me—things like community, creativity, and a sense of belonging. Those things don’t just happen by accident. They need to be nurtured. They need space to flourish and that’s what this café is for.

The journey to get here hasn’t been simple by any means though. This is an incredible opportunity, and one that means more than I can ever put into comprehensible words but I’ll give it a try.

My dad was a dreamer—he always had some big idea cooking up. Whether it was opening a boiled peanut stand, making his own moonshine, floating the broad river in a kayak or hiking the Appalachian Trail, he was always chasing some new adventure in his heart. He had the drive and desire but not always the direction or steering.

Since his passing I definitely carry those dreams with me, and in a small way, his spirit lives on through this place. I wouldn’t be here without him in more ways than one and for that I am grateful. Thank you Ricky.

Cat’s Kettle is forever and always rooted in connection, care and genuine affection for the people and world around us. In the small, steady rituals that bring us joy in life: a cup of coffee with someone you haven’t seen in a while. A familiar face behind the counter. A quiet corner to read in on a rainy day. A table that’s always full of laughter, quiet, or something in between.

When the doors finally open, I hope it feels like a place you’ve been missing—without realizing how much.

Opening day should be dropping soon so stay tuned for that.

Thanks again for being here. We can’t wait to welcome you in.
